Alameda County Clean Water Program
Alameda County
Challenge: Raise awareness about the impacts on water quality from the commonly used pesticides diazinon and chlorpyrifos.
Role: Conduct an educational program for recreational gardeners, nursery staff, and gardening organizations on environmentally friendly yard/garden-care products, appropriate pesticide usage, and alternative methods of pest control. Provided in conjunction with an extensive media outreach and point-of-purchase messaging in stores selling pesticides.
Result: Heightened awareness of integrated pest management in Alameda County and a reduction of stormwater pollution in San Francisco Bay.
