Golden Gate Park Concourse
Golden Gate Park Concourse Authority

Challenge: Plan and construct a parking facility and other improvements in San Francisco's Golden Gate State Park, a sensitive resource valued by many.

Role: Develop and implement a community relations plan including stakeholder meetings, media relations, and facilitation of citywide meetings, regional meetings, and neighborhood design workshops. Create an interactive project website.

Result: Increased understanding of the project came through two-way dialogue between the Golden Gate Park Concourse Authority and the San Francisco community. Design and construction issues related to the underground parking facility and structural improvements to the music concourse were addressed. A park-wide traffic management plan and bicycle plan were designed.

 

 

Open Space District Communications Materials
Marin County Open Space District

Challenge: Bring greater awareness to the District’s parklands, leading to enhanced appreciation of the resources, and the processes needed to sustain them.

Role: Prepare public information materials including the District’s annual report newsletter and two newsletters focused on the restoration of Bolinas Lagoon.

Result: Attractive public materials draw an increased number of visitors to the reserves and parklands, and foster a better understanding of the District’s function and value to the community.

 

 

Eastshore Park Specific Plan

Challenge: Assist the three major cooperating agencies prepare a general development plan for the Eastshore State Park, a major recreational asset in the Bay Area.

Role: Provide strategic guidance and direction on public outreach; identify and interview stakeholders; facilitate multiple public workshops; and develop and manage the project web site.

Result: A well-managed public review process led to a development plan encompassing the input of many diverse interests ranging from naturalists to sports enthusiasts. The plan accommodated preservation and restoration of valuable ecosystems, while allowing compatible recreational and educational uses along the 8.5 miles of bay shoreline.
