Going Green

Making sustainable choices for the way we do business.

Working to create sustainable communities is an important part of the work we do at CirclePoint. In addition to collaborating with clients to address these larger challenges, we are committed on a day-to-day basis to working smarter. The individual choices we make in doing business - even the small ones - contribute to the kind of impact we have on our environment.

To help reduce our footprint and support sustainable practices, we have located our offices in transit-accessible downtown areas of San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento. Our Oakland office building is LEED Gold certified and our San Francisco office is certified as a San Francisco Green Business. Our Sacramento office is working towards achieving Green Business certification through increased efficiency of building operations and institution of recycling, composting, and "green" vendor partnership programs. We also provide incentives to employees to use transit, carpools, or bicycles to commute to work and have systems in place to make telecommuting seamless.

Technology - like comprehensive and interactive Web sites, online conferencing, Webinars, and online collaboration software - enables us to create new ways to reduce the impacts of public outreach and environmental review activities. Incorporating virtual ways to communicate effectively cuts down on vehicle miles traveled and has the added benefit of helping to engage a broader audience in discussing issues and finding solutions.

And each of our staff is personally committed to reducing his or her own carbon footprint. We commute by ferry, train, bicycle, and carpool; eliminate landscape irrigation at home; recycle; install EnergyStar appliances; use low-energy light bulbs; compost; shop locally; and purchase food from local farms.
