Project Manager

Our environmental practice is growing. We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and resourceful Project Manager to help us lead and manage challenging, high-profile environmental documents for transportation, land development, and policy planning projects throughout California.

The position is available either at our downtown Oakland headquarters office or in downtown San Jose. Full-time is preferred; however part-time (approximately thirty hours per week) and flexible arrangements are an option.

This position will require the Project Manager to lead project teams through the preparation and submittal of environmental review documents subject to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements. The Project Manager will assume project management responsibilities including project planning and delivery, strategy development, budget management, and resource and staff management. The Project Manager will also actively participate in marketing efforts and business development.

In addition, the Project Manager is responsible for the development and publication of NEPA/CEQA environmental documents, including the writing of complex technical sections and graphic development and coordination and management of various subconsultants and vendors.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct experience with CEQA and NEPA; some experience with Caltrans environmental review is strongly preferred.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental studies, urban planning, technical writing, or an associated field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word, Excel, and Project
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to multi-task and work within allocated budgets and schedules
  • Demonstrated quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) abilities
  • Experience with budget management procedures and/or tracking software
  • Team player capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Strategic Communications Intern

Interested in helping communities improve transportation, conserve water, promote more sustainable land uses and foster more productive community engagement? So are we. Join our team!

We are seeking a part-time intern for a three month paid internship in our Strategic Communications Practice in our downtown Oakland headquarters office. The position will fill a key role in a wide variety of communication and public engagement activities for local, regional and statewide transportation, land use, water and other projects.  We are committed to co-operative education programs.  Interns are provided with practical, hands-on experience and exposure to a broad range of practical issues.  The position pays $13.50 per hour.

The intern will be responsible for developing materials, tracking public comments and responses, coordinating meeting and other event logistics, assisting with media relations, sending out mailings, and researching local issues and communities.

  •  Knowledge of best practices and direct experience using social media and online communication tools to engage with multiple audiences
  •  Fluency in other languages a plus
  •  Proficiency in MS Office
