Waste Management

Every day, society manufactures and distributes a dizzying array of products - everything from household goods and electronics, to automobiles, to medical supplies. We also discard tons of leftover materials in landfills, transfer stations, and incinerators. As all of this waste emits atmospheric gases that directly contribute to the warming of our climate, waste prevention is a key strategy for reducing greenhouse gases.

Can you imagine a world without garbage? Not easily. But we've come a long way in our efforts to better manage the solid waste we generate. Business, civic, and industrial sectors, ranging from small local communities to Fortune 1000 corporations, have widely adopted the well-known three "R's" mantra to reduce, reuse, and recycle. The pillar of the mantra - source reduction - yields tremendous benefits, both in preserving natural resources used in a host of products and in measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. And as organic waste in landfills decomposes and produces methane, it too can be recycled for electricity generation.

We've come a long way, but the road to zero waste is long. More progress will be made through continued public-private partnerships, stakeholder outreach, and educational programs - the cornerstone of Circlepoint's expertise.
