Assistant or Associate Environmental Planner

Circlepoint is growing!  We are looking for an experienced, highly-motivated and assertive Assistant or Associate Planner to join our Environmental Planning Practice in our downtown Oakland office. The position is full-time.  The Environmental Practice focuses on writing and producing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documents.

The Assistant or Associate Planner will be responsible for supporting various roles in the development and publication of environmental documents, including: drafting written materials; conducting research; assisting in document production; and maintaining project files.

Requirements:  

  • Experience:  Minimum 1 year direct experience in environmental planning or related field
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental studies, urban planning, technical writing, or an associated field
  • Working knowledge of CEQA fundamentals
  • Exposure to NEPA preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word and Excel
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Team player capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Project Manager - CEQA/NEPA Documentation

For over 25 years, Circlepoint has been a guiding force in helping our clients and the public think strategically, communicate effectively, and find solutions to improve our communities and protect the environment. With offices in Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, and Southern California, Circlepoint specializes in environmental planning, strategic communications, and creative services.

Circlepoint is looking for an experienced, motivated and resourceful Project Manager for our South Bay office (downtown San Jose).  This position will require an individual to lead, manage and prepare environmental documents for challenging, high-profile transportation, land development, and planning projects throughout California.

In addition, this person will help grow and promote Circlepoint in the South Bay by actively participating in marketing and business development efforts.

Day to day activities and responsibilities include:

  • Leading project teams in preparing and processing environmental documents in compliance with both National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) and/or the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requirements
  • Project planning and delivery; budget and schedule; quality control; and staff management, training and development
  • Research, writing and preparing technical studies in the areas of land use, community impacts, and visual and aesthetics
  • Managing preparation of graphics for reports
  • Managing the scope, schedule, and work quality of subcontractors and vendors
  • Writing proposal, scopes, and preparing budgets for marketing efforts

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of direct experience with CEQA and NEPA. Preference factors include demonstrated experience with preparing Caltrans environmental documentation; business development experience, particularly in South Bay environmental, transportation and/or land use fields
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in environmental studies, urban planning, technical writing, or an associated field
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly MS Word, Excel, and Project
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills; ability to multi-task and work within allocated budgets and schedules
  • Demonstrated quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) abilities
  • Experience with budget management procedures and/or tracking software
  • Team player capabilities
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
